Own Your Stage

Last night I was watching Supernova (my new secret passion) I am fascinated by these babe-rockers with leaping appendages moving wildly from corner to corner. They were for that moment transported into the music and I went along for the ride. They owned their stage. And in spite of the fact they didn’t seem concerned about looking pretty, it was a thing of beauty.

For all of you that struggle with performance anxiety, think about what that would mean to you? How that would change your life if you truly owned your own stage?

After the show, I turned to my husband, and shouted “Yeah that’s what I’m talking about! I want to own my stage”. I want people to say “Damn, she’s all over that thing”. Being the husband of a life coach has seasoned him for such outbursts. Later, I explained, that my stage was not a rocker stage, but a stage of my own expertise of coaching creative resources, inspiration and vision from the lives of artists.

So what about your stage? Look around do your co-workers all look like they need blood transfusions? Is the primary focus of conversation about vacations, retirement or what they had for lunch? Is your energy being slowly drained out of your body so that you drag yourself to the end of the week? You may be on the wrong stage, and if you are, you will never own that stage.

So what does your stage look like? Every nail hammered to hold up under the duress of your legs flying and heels stomping, built for your delight by a God that celebrates your calling, passion and unique vision. I want to hear you scream like a rocker until you can feel it in your toes, "I OWN THIS STAGE”.

Now that’s a thing of beauty.
